Billy Bragg has been cleared to enter Australia for his national tour that commences late next month.
The veteran English folk-punk, country-rock singer-songwriter recently released his tenth studio album titled 'The Million Things That Never Happened'."[This album] isn't about the pandemic per se," begins Billy, "but the highs and lows of what we've been through provide the backdrop for the album, as they have done for all our lives over these past two years."
The 'One Step Forward Two Steps Back' tour sees Bragg headline a trio of concerts in the following cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Fremantle. He also has a standalone gig in Byron Bay.
Each evening, Bragg will perform a different set; hear Billy's career-spanning set performed on the first night, while second evening sees Billy serve up songs from his first three albums (1983, 1984, 1986). Then the third concert will feature songs from his 1988, 1991 and 1996 albums.
The original Adelaide and Fremantle dates have also been pushed back to February.
"I've just finished a five-week tour of UK and Ireland and am delighted to be back playing live again," Billy says.
"I've been given clearance to enter Australia in January and I'm really excited at the prospect of playing these three-night gigs that both showcase my new songs and dive deep into my back catalogue.
"Thanks so much for your patience on this – it's going to be a special tour."
