Big Day Out To Leave The Gold Coast?

BDO chief Adam Zammit has told the Courier Mail that the festival is "as good as gone" from the Gold Coast and is now searching for a new venue.

The festival, which has been staged on the Coast since '94, has reportedly been forced out of the Parklands by the Queensland State Government's plans to redevelop the showgrounds into an athletes' village for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

A move to a site at Helensvale (45 minutes from Brisbane and just over 20 minutes from the Gold Coast) was blocked by the State Government and Zammit is now looking at sites in northern NSW and Queensland.

The Big Day Out may very well say its last goodbye to the Gold Coast Parklands on Sunday January 20.
