After more hype than any other recent festival announcement, the Big Day Out 2014 line-up has dropped. As promised, it's, well, Big.
"It's the most impossible line-up we've ever put together," Ken West told Fasterlouder yesterday, "especially in a modern age. You have no idea how hard this process has been ... I would be happy with any of those three acts closing the festival. We haven't had that before. So it's the most impossible line-up we've had because if you think about it logically there's no other place in the world where you'd get these three acts on the same bill unless it was Live Aid. Thats the only other time you can get the egos pushed out of the way.
"While three bands don't make a festival," West added, "these are three really fucking good bands."
It's hard to disagree with that assessment. The line-up reads as follows:
Pearl Jam * Arcade Fire * Blur * Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion * Major Lazer * Steve Angello * Flume * The Lumineers * Tame Impala * Dillon Francis * Mac Miller * Ghost * Grouplove * Flosstradamus * Portugal. The Man * Toro Y Moi * DIIV * The Naked And Famous * Big Gigantic * PEZ * Mudhoney * Cosmic Psychos * Northlane * The 1975 * Loon Lake * Kingswood * Bo Ningen * The Algorithm * DZ Deathrays * Peking Duk * Ben Morris * Rüfüs
and more to be announced...
