Like all good things Aussie, Lavanda was born over a beer at a BBQ.
From old-school boombap to dance, trap and electro, Lavanda's sound echoes their influences – Mac Miller, Flume, Monte Booker, Thundercat.Ahead of their appearance at Fresh Produce (from the same crew who put on Groovin The Moo) in Toowoomba, the duo share a list of some of their favourite things about their home town.
1: Born and Bread Bakery in Newtown
For their chicken, asparagus and cheese pies. Great for a hangover cure or snack on smoko. Recipe hasn't changed since Llewellyn was going there as a youngling. Classic, unpretentious, baked goodness.2: Santé Cocktail Bar
Best bar in town by a country mile. The mixologist stirs up syrups from scratch for the hundreds of cocktails on offer. It's a dimly lit, intimate space.3: The zoot tree on Prince Henry Drive
You'll find it on the loop road. Can't miss it. Great views over the valley. Really great at sunset. Has a cute little road you can trek down for views over the iconic Table Top.4: Toowoomba Skatepark on Chalk Drive
Best skate park around. Grungy, across the road from Queens Park. What more could you want?5: Ravensbourne National Park
Rainforest that used to be all over this region. Mosey on through mass-covered paths, with massive gums, palm groves, little streams and views over the valley. Get your nature on.Fresh Produce takes place at Toowoomba Showgrounds 3-4 September. Headliners are Hockey Dad, G Flip, Lime Cordiale, Cosmo's Midnight, Mallrat and Hooligan Hefs. Fresh Produce also lands at seven other regional centres.
