Best Of Maitland: Kinder Share 5 Local Attractions

Kinder play the Maitland leg of Fresh Produce.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Fresh off supporting Rita Ora, Kinder is the music project of sisters Briony and Savannah from Maitland.

With 165k monthly Spotify listeners, Kinder are no strangers to festival stages either having appeared at Splendour and Groovin The Moo.

Ahead of their appearance at Fresh Produce (from the same crew who put on Groovin The Moo) in Maitland, the duo share a list of some of their favourite things about their home town.

Grand Junction Hotel

The best spot in Maitland for a cold schooner. This pub is like home to many locals and many musicians around the country. The wonderful staff will welcome you with friendly smiles and delicious beverages.

We were lucky enough to witness some legendary musicians showcase their early works on the Grandy stage. Legends such as Kim Churchill, Ben from Boo Seeka, Liz Stringer and many more.

Newcastle East Beach

We used to catch the train in every weekend with our friends to one of our favourite beaches. About 25 minutes from Maitland and worth the ride. A great beach for swimming and surfing. Grab a coffee at the kiosk or across the road at Estabar.

Morpeth

This is a cute little town by the river about ten minutes from Maitland. It kinda feels like you've stepped back in time. On the main road you'll find cute cottages, antique shops and dainty cafes. A nice place to grab some brekkie or a coffee and stroll by the river.

Preah Ko

A locally owned business in the heart of Maitland. This shop is filled with crystals, essential oils and jewellery. We are really into our crystals, so if you vibe that sort of thing, it's worth a peak.

Coquun Cafe

A lovely little cafe by the river in Maitland. Good spot for a coffee or a cocktail. There's a piano in the alleyway that anyone is welcome to play, which is a bonus.

Fresh Produce takes place at Maitland Showground 27-28 August. Headliners are Hockey Dad, G Flip, Lime Cordiale, Cosmo's Midnight, Mallrat and Hooligan Hefs. Fresh Produce also lands at seven other regional centres.
