Scheduled to land in Australia next month for an 11-date national tour, Belinda Carlisle has postponed her trip till 2023.
The American musician's management company has made the decision, in part, because of the uncertainty of staging an international tour as Australia resumes life after state borders (except WA) re-opened last month. "We feel that the circumstances surrounding the resumption of full-scale, weeks-long international touring are still too uncertain for us to be able go ahead in a safe, responsible manner," Belinda's management company said in a statement.
The 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth', 'Leave A Light On' and 'Summer Rain' icon is 'extremely disappointed' to again push back her 'Decades' tour down under.
"Belinda is of course extremely disappointed with this decision. "She has not toured at all for two years now and very much misses being on stage but she also wants to keep everyone safe, so she has reluctantly accepted our advice on this occasion.
"She sends you all her deepest apologies for this change of plan and hopes everyone stays well."
Tickets already purchased remain valid for the new dates, with refunds available from the point of purchase. The planned Bendigo show has been cancelled after a rescheduled date proved impossible.
A statement from Belinda’s management company:
'It is with great regret that we must announce the postponement of Belinda’s Australian ‘Decades’ tour, which was originally scheduled for February 2022. The dates have been moved to March 2023.
'This was by no means an easy decision to make, not least because of all the work that has already gone into organising this tour, but we feel that the circumstances surrounding the resumption of full-scale, weeks long international touring are still too uncertain for us to be able go ahead in a safe, responsible manner.
'The outlook will of course change over time and hindsight may prove us unduly cautious, but Belinda has many freelance professionals working for her and it would not be fair either to them or to you the ticket holders to make such a momentous decision at the very last moment.
'Add to this the fact that Omicron is still very much on the rise and that we are still unable to insure her shows against Covid related cancellation and we really felt we had no other option.
'We understand that some people may disagree with this decision however we always try to work in a pro-active manner and felt it better to make the call now rather than wait until the end of this month and then perhaps be forced to do so.

'Tickets will remain valid for her rescheduled shows so where possible we would ask you to please keep hold of them for the future date. If you cannot attend the new date and wish to ask for a refund instead, please contact your point of purchase.
'Lastly, it has sadly proved impossible to reschedule the date in Bendigo, so the show there will unfortunately have to be cancelled completely. Please contact your point of purchase for a refund.'
