The first round of Big Day Out 2013 sideshows were announced today and no, Red Hot Chili Peppers aren't one of them. We know - it hurts us, too.
But not to worry – Sydney and Melbourne musos can look forward to shows by some massive acts including Alabama Shakes, Crystal Castles, Band of Horses, Animal Collective, Sleigh Bells and The Killers. Sydneysiders have won the sideshow jackpot; indie rockers Yeah Yeah Yeahs will hit The Metro for a one-off gig. Bloody Beetroots and OFF!are the only acts to announce Brisbane sideshows, if only to remind the city that its not been entirely forgotten.
It's early days yet and more acts are expected to announce sideshows in the coming weeks, but here's the full list for now:
