The idyllic mid-winter getaway, BASSINTHEGRASS is primed for another monster party in 2024 with the Darwin music festival attracting a who's who of Australia's hottest music talent.
Plus global hitmaker Macklemore will headline with the vast majority of the 2024 line-up having never played BASSINTHEGRASS previously.Situated between the palm trees under clear, blue skies at Darwin's iconic Mindil Beach, BASSINTHEGRASS returns 18 May, 2024.
Set to join the 'Thrift Shop', 'Can't Hold Us' and 'Glorious' rapper will be perennial festival favourites Bliss N Eso, King Stingray, Middle Kids, Northlane, and The Jungle Giants.
"[I'm] pumped to be headed back to the NT for BASSINTHEGRASS," The Jungle Giants' Sam Hales says, the group having played the event in 2021.
"It's one of my fav festivals to play. The line-up is always huge, and Darwin goes its own special kind of wild. Will most likely be staying for a writing trip somewhere in the desert."
Dance heroes Bag Raiders, Mashd N Kutcher, What So Not, and Young Franco will be joined by rockers Coterie and Jet as well as folk-roots singer-songwriter Ziggy Alberts.
Making the sure the beats remain high-energy will be UK DJ Sam Divine and Dirtybird Records alumni Walker & Royce as well as local legends Mood Swing & Chevy Bass, The 046, Kinder, and Sunshine And Disco Faith Choir as well as Darwin native Vassy (who has collaborated with David Guetta and Showtek).
While emerging indie arts J-Milla and Lotte Gallagher will also grace the BASSINTHEGRASS stage.
"As a local girl originally from Darwin born and raised, now based in Los Angeles," Vassy says, "it gives me so much joy to come back home to perform for my home town and to support my local community by showcasing local talent in my show line-up."
AFL footy fans can add to their Darwin adventure with Gold Coast Suns playing two games ahead of BASSINTHEGRASS: they face North Melbourne (11 May) followed by Geelong Cats (16 May).
"The Territory's favourite music festival has come a long way in 21 years and is well and truly a must-do on the national festival calendar. It's also one of the most affordable festivals in Australia," Northern Territory Major Events Company CEO Suzana Bishop says.
"BASSINTHEGRASS is attracting international artists as well as the best from Australia, delighting music fans who want to see quality artists at a stunning beach-side location.
"The whole city comes alive in the lead-up to the festival, and next year's event takes place right after Darwin's two AFL games. Even more reasons to head to the Top End."
