Bands Can Now Sell You Merch On Spotify

Spotify has announced a new initiative that lets users buy official merchandise from musicians' profile pages.

“Spotify’s 24 million music-loving users can now see merchandise and concerts while listening to their favorite artists,” read a statement posted on the official Spotify website yesterday. “We, in turn, can provide additional revenue opportunities for artists of all sizes.”

Bands and artists will be able to use the music streaming site to display t-shirts, tickets and posters alongside their tracks.

Spotify partnered with music marketing group, Topspin for the new venture and completed successful trials with several artists over the past month.

With no fees or commission for merchandise listing, it's the latest in a series of attempts made by the streaming site to appeal to smaller, independent artists.
