Australian Women In Music Seek EOI For Their 2023 QLD Regional & Remote Women's Music Program

AWMA award ceremony, concert and conference will be held in Brisbane 26-27 September.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Ahead of its 2023 awards ceremony and conference in late September, Australian Women In Music Awards (AWMAs) are seeking applicants for its AWMA QLD Regional & Remote Women's Music Program.

Targeted at musicians and music practitioners (who are Australian citizens 18 years and older) living in regional and remote Queensland, those selected will attend and take part in AWMAs 2023 two-day programme (26-27 September) in Brisbane.

Set to provide a safe and supportive environment for industry connections to develop and thrive, successful applicants will join a series of forums, In-Conversation discussion, First Nations Women's Music Showcase and networking, Black Carpet, Awards Ceremony, Concert and After Party.

"Now in its fourth year, the AWMA Regional & Remote Women's Music Program highlights our commitment 'in action' to making the music industry more accessible for artists, musicians and music practitioners who are so often disadvantaged by distance and gender," shares Vicki Gordon, AWMA's Founding Executive Producer & Program Director.

"Visibility, opportunity and engagement are essential towards achieving 'gender equality' in the music industry."

Previous participants have applauded the practical and tangible career development opportunities the AWMA initiative provides.

Comments from 2022 participants: "It's great to feel seen and have something to look forward to in terms of celebrating wins as these spaces are very slowly becoming more accessible for people who don't fit the mould."

"More than anything, the AWMAs acknowledge diversity and this makes me feel incredibly proud and supported by an industry in which women feel largely unrepresented."

Applications for the AWMA QLD Regional & Remote Women's Music Program are open and close on 31 July, 2023.

AWMA award ceremony, concert and conference will be held in Brisbane 26-27 September. ABC TV will broadcast the ceremony and concert 29 September.
