The first batch of artists to showcase at this year's Australian Music Week (AMW) have been revealed with 30 acts announced including country music's 'CMC Female Artist Of The Year', Christie Lamb.
The music industry gathering, targeting the grassroots and independent level of the scene, is quickly building a reputable brand allowing those at the coalface of emerging talent to engage, network, showcase and connect.
Past AMWs have lead showcasing artists to pick up international tours, major festival placements, record and distribution deals, and showcasing opportunities.
Set to take over the beaches and streets of Cronulla in Sydney (7-9 November), 2018 AMW will also welcome two-time Canadian JUNO Award-winner Hawksley Workman, best new Swiss talent Veronica Fusaro, ARIA-charting alt. country newcomer Tori Forsyth, and electro pop duo Chymes.
Overall, 2018 AMW will witness 150 live performances and 3 days of industry panels and masterclass workshops, as well as Australia's only dedicated Music Film Festival (10-11 Nov).
Conference goers will also be treated to showcases from 19-year-old Americana artist James Van Cooper, award-winning Western Australian songwriter and pop artist Sydnee Carter, Gold Coast Music Award winner Ella Fence, Australian folk-rock duo Little Georgia and the world-latin vibes of Amaru Tribe.
Other music highlights include Ben Leece, Dan Parsons, Jaguar Jonze, Kingston County, Lost Tropics, Mason Rack and Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife. Scroll down for the complete list of music acts announced.
AMW director, Geoff Trio says this first artist announce "shows the strength of new Australian talent emerging.
"After listening to hundreds of hours of music, I'm really excited about the quality and diversity of acts Australian Music Week will be showcasing this year. I even discovered my own new favourite artist in the process!
"These artists are all ready and raring to go. The artistry is there. Their live performances are there. I have no doubt 2018 will see our biggest and best showcasing results yet."
This artist announcement follows the first speaker and industry delegates revealed earlier this month, including Canadian musician health and wellness coach Mike Schwartz and music tech expert Hazel Savage.
"We've watched Australian Music Week evolve into an essential conference for independent artists," 301 Studios General Manager, Ron Haryanto says.
"What this conference does so well is enable cross sections of the industry to showcase, connect and collaborate with each other on a very real and personal level."
Tickets are on sale now via Oztix. Artist showcase applications have been extended, closing 7 September.
