Another Festival, with 15-year pedigree, has announced it will not go ahead this Easter.

The promoters of Rabbits Eats Lettuce revealed on social media that their Temporary Event Permit, sought from Somerset Council, has not been approved. The organisers announced they'd take [2023] to secure a permanent venue and come back stronger and more vibrant than ever.

The statement read, "Unfortunately we have some bad news to share. Today we received notice from Somerset Council that our Temporary Entertainment Event Permit Application has been refused. After spending considerable money & time on our permit application & consultant reports this is very disappointing. We were so excited to welcome you to the beautiful property at Atkinsons Dam.

"With less than 2 months until Easter, there is simply not enough time to secure permits for an alternative venue. This leaves us with no choice but to cancel this year’s edition of Rabbits Eat Lettuce. This is the first time Rabbits Eat Lettuce will cancel, since inception in 2008 (aside from the COVID year off in 2020). This is very heartbreaking for us after enduring all the challenges of COVID etc. We thank you all for your support over the years and understanding.

"All event tickets and add-on products & volunteer tickets will be fully refunded automatically at the face value of the ticket (less booking fees, which go directly to the ticketing agent and payment provider). Refunds will be processed within 10 business days. Please allow up to 10 business days and ensure you check the bank account/credit card statement used to purchase your tickets before contacting us regarding your refund. Refunds will go back to the same account or credit card used to make the purchase.

"Love and thanks to you all for all the support and beautiful energy you have brought to REL over the years. Keep that REL Magic & Love alive in your daily lives while you await the next dancefloor reunion. "

Rabbits Eat Lettuce has grown from its humble beginnings in 2008 as a forest dance party on the mid-north-coast of NSW and has become an underground tradition.

It's believed the permit was refused due to noise concerns raised by surrounding residents of the 600-acre Atkinson's Dam property, west of Brisbane.
