Angélique Kidjo
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

'The World's Festival' returns to Adelaide with an eclectic line-up guaranteed to suit any taste.

The four-day world music and arts festival makes its return to Adelaide's Botanic Park in 2016 to celebrate its 20th year. Leading the festival announcement are Grammy award winning superstar Angelique Kidjo and Dr David Suzuki, Canadian environmentalist and philanthropist.

Angélique Kidjo is set to make her first WOMADelaide appearance in 2016, supported by the 60-piece Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The Beninese singer-songwriter has had a career spanning over twenty five years, winning countless awards and inspiring many with her activism. For her appearance at WOMADelaide, she will be bringing her unique orchestral repertoire to the festival, performing the three part movement 'Ifé', a collaboration with Phillip Glass, as well as 'Summertime' by George Gershwin and original tracks.

Dr David Suzuki is a leading figure in the scientific and environment world, and will be hosing a talking as part of The University Of South Australia's Planet Talks programme. Other notable acts announced for the festival include Australian funk/jazz band The Cat Empire, playing their fourth WOMADelaide festival, American cult rockers The Violent Femmes, renowned South African choir Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Australian Dance Theatre's premiere of 'The Beginning of Nature'.
