US alternative band Anberlin return to Australia in 2024, their first shows down under since 2019.
'The Feel Good Drag', 'Paperthin Hymn' and 'Enjoy The Silence' rockers will headline concerts in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in January. The tour will also act as a live farewell for original vocalist-songwriter Stephen Christian, who is stepping away from band's touring duties indefinitely.
"There is not a country outside the United States that Anberlin is more connected to or embraced as much as Australia, and this will be our 12th trip to this incredible country," Christian says.
"From our first show in Adelaide, to then writing a song about it, and years later having a nine-year-old girl named Adelaide come onstage and sing that very song with us, to a massive sold-out show in Sydney, we have SO many core memories created on that soil.
"It is absolutely fitting that I am taking a final bow in Australia before taking a long hiatus from touring. I appreciate you Australia and can't wait to sing along one final time."
Since their 2002 debut, Anberlin have released seven studio albums, 2014's 'Lowborn' their most recent before the band disbanded.
After their comeback in 2018, the Florida natives have released two EPs: 2022's 'Silverline' and 'Convinced' that dropped in June and features 'Lacerate' – the first single with guitarist Christian McAlhaney on lead vocals.
American post-rock, emo group Hawthorne Heights (who just released the five-track EP 'Lost Lights') and Arizona metalcore band The Word Alive (whose new album 'Hard Reset' landed late August) join the tour at all shows.
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 26 October.
