An Evening With Andy Summers (The Police) Australia 2024 Tour

Andy Summers
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

An inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Guitar Player Hall of Fame, The Police's Andy Summers will tour Australia in 2024.

Billed as An Evening With Andy Summers, the multimedia show sees Summers' performing some of The Police's iconic hits alongside sharing stories from his celebrated career.

"His tone and style were just absolutely perfect – he left space around everything," Rush's Alex Lifeson once said of Andy Summers, "and he can handle anything from beautiful acoustic playing to jazz to hybrid kinds of stuff."

Alongside his work with The Police, Andy has forged a successful solo career that has seen him release 13 fusion-based solo albums, collaborate with the likes of Sting, Herbie Hancock, King Crimson, and Robert Fripp, as well as score numerous Hollywood soundtracks including 'Down And Out In Beverly Hills' (1986) and 'Weekend At Bernie's' (1989).

Also an author and photographer with recent exhibitions in France, the concert will feature selections of photographic work Andy has taken over the years.

"I'm doing a show called The Cracked Lens and The Missing String; each show is unique. You'll see a show tonight that no one else has seen," the recipient of the Chevalier De L'Ordre Des Arts et Des Lettres by the Ministry of Culture in France says.

"You'll see a lot of my photography and you'll never want to look at it again once we're done; and I'm going to play the guitar.

"It's kinda become an evening with [type show]; I kinda tell stories. I sort of think 'how much longer can I do this?' and I probably answer 'well, forever; why not till they take me away!'"

Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 17 June.
