Gold Coast singer-songwriter and taste-du-jour, Amy Shark has topped this year's ARIA Awards pool netting herself a phenomenal nine nominations for her debut album 'Love Monster'.

Since releasing her breakthrough single 'Adore', Amy has been catapulted into the upper sphere of international touring. With her 'Love Monster' album, Amy proved herself capable of not just one hit, but a string of them.

Though happy just to be recognised, Amy says she's most proud of her ARIA Award nominations for Album Of The Year and Best Australian Live Act. “Awards are nothing until you win them, so it's definitely really awesome to be in the categories that I'm in,” Amy says.

“There's a few that not shocked me, but I was really proud to be nominated for Live Artist as well because I put a lot of work into the 'Love Monster' tour and we all worked really hard on making things happen for that tour, so I'm glad I got nominated for that.

“The Album Of The Year is the big one – that's such a huge thing to even get into the nomination part for that. There are some albums out that didn't get nominated that I was pretty shocked by, so for me to be on that I know how elite that is and whatever happens is fine.”

Quietly confident and disarmingly humble for one of the country's most popular artists at the moment, Amy faces the ARIA competition knowing her place in the nominations was hard-fought and won. “I believe that 'Love Monster' is a great album and I'm just proud of it for getting the nomination,” she says.

“It would be nice to win it but I'm not going to throw myself on the ground and have a tantrum in front of everyone if it doesn't happen,” she adds with a laugh.

After extensive world touring, Amy circles back for the clear waters of home when she performs at Falls Festival over New Year's. Her performance as part of the Falls line-up marks not only her return but will also be the first time she's ever been to the festival, either as a punter or a performer.

“I honestly couldn't be more excited because Aussie festivals are just on another level,” Amy says.

“They're so much fun and I've never even been to a Falls Festival, so my first time will be me playing at one so it's cool.”

With a smashing debut album under her belt plus her 2017 'Night Thinker' EP, Amy says the Falls crowds can look forward to a vibrant and varied live show.

“The good thing about festivals at home is that I can play with it a little bit more,” she says, “and I love being able to put a set together that's a bit of 'Night Thinker', a bit of old stuff and 'Love Monster' as well. Give everyone a taste of everything.”

Amy Shark performs as part of Falls Festival 2018, and Field Day 2019 (Sydney) 1 January.
