Akova’s second full-length album is best described as chilled-out acoustic roots, drawing on themes of peace, mindfulness and joy.
His organic back-beats are overlayed with honest lyrics; his quirky delivery ranges from rhythmic rap, to spoken word, to sweet harmonies. The solo, multi-instrumental nature of his live sound has translated well to recording, adding many instruments to his acoustic, percussive style.
The first single, ‘Time To Stand’ attracted a social media movement around its themes of standing up to society’s environmental ills. Title track ‘This is Me Now’ follows Akova’s own struggle to find himself in a crazy world. ‘You Can Have Anything’ is a motivational anthem, encouraging each listener to grab life with both hands and find themselves. ‘Mess’ is a cute take on a breakup song, ultimately making you smile at thoughts of letting go and being OK.
Akova’s earnest themes and peaceful vibes can’t help but leave you feeling relaxed; the perfect soundtrack to an afternoon sunset by the beach. 'This Is Me Now' is out soon.
