AJ Confirms 'Definitely' No Soundwave in 2017

Soundwave Won't Make A Sound in 2017
Founder and Publisher. Based in Brisbane.
Howard started Scene Magazine in 1993. Paul Keating was Prime Minister. Whitney, Janet and Mariah all had Aussie #1s and Mark Zuckerberg was 9. Over 30 years he's overseen the growth of scenestr magazine to become Australia's largest – and only national – street press while forging a digital-first imperative for the title in the mid-naughties. He's judged more battle of the bands than he cares to remember and proud of the myriad media partnerships the company has earned across the music, arts and comedy sectors. He likes Star Trek and a good Oxford Comma – way too much fun at parties.

Soundwave's promoter AJ Maddah, has confirmed there will be no Soundwave in 2017. Anywhere.

Maddah responded to a question querying Soundwave's future on Twitter this afternoon by saying "Definitely no SW17. It's a lot of hard work, stress & risk in return for which we get hate & stupidity ‪#OverIt‬."

There is also a series of Tweets relating to Maddah's discussions with Bring Me The Horizon who announced yesterday that they were "not 100% locked in".

The cancellation opens the door for the outspoken promoter to perhaps re-brand and re-launch a boutique series of festivals in the same vein as the 'Unify' back-to-back sellouts.

This year's event's ticket sales were described as 'reasonable' following a scaling back from two days to one and criticism of the lineup. The Adelaide and Perth legs were scrapped one and two years ago respectively as unviable.
