Half a century since their extraordinary career began in Melbourne, Australia, pop-rock ballad kings Air Supply return to where it started this spring.
The duo of Englishman Graham Russell (vocals, guitar) and Australian Russell Hitchcock (vocals) are celebrating 50 years since they meet at rehearsals (12 May, 1975) for 'Jesus Christ Superstar'.Their union has gifted the musical zeitgeist a swag of ageless romantic hits including 'All Out Of Love', 'Making Love Out Of Nothing At All', 'Lost In Love', 'Lost', 'Goodbye', 'Even The Nights Are Better', 'Without You', 'Every Woman In The World' and 'Here I Am' – although the list goes on, and on!
Under the musical direction of lead guitarist Aaron McLain, the 2025 Air Supply ensemble includes Mirko Tessandori (piano/ keyboards/ vocals), Pavel Valdman (drums) and Doug Gild (bass). Fans can expect to hear the classics alongside the duo's deeper cuts and rarities when Air Supply headline concerts in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in September.
"We love coming back to Australia to where it all started. It means the world to us to celebrate our 50th anniversary by performing in our homeland of Australia," Russell says about the upcoming tour. Adds Graham: "On our 50th year as Air Supply, nothing will make us prouder than coming back to the place where it all began!"
The duo is ever-present on the road to the tune of 130 dates a year and hit a milestone 5,500th live show in late 2024. Air Supply were the first Western group to tour China, who prior to the band's breakthrough would not allow pop music across their borders. In 2005, Air Supply performed for a record 175,000 people in Cuba.
