With support from the Australian Government, the Australian Independent Labels Association (AIR) has launched the inaugural Women in Music Mentor programme.
Designed to empower women in the Australian music industry, the nationwide programme will be staged once a year across a four- year period (2020-2023) It will assist with career and leadership progression pathways, strategic decision making, corporate governance, and focus on developing skills in contract negotiation, financial literacy, marketing and leadership.Mentees will be partnered with mentors for a five-month period, while the programme will also provide professional development training opportunities including workshops with industry professionals and leaders.
"We look forward to delivering this programme over the next four years and to working collaboratively with industry professionals, mentors and mentees across Australia," AIR GM, Maria Amato says.
The Women in Music Mentor programme will be open to all female, female-identifying and non-binary participants working in or aspiring to work in creative (solo artists, band members, songwriters), technical (engineers, producers, etc.) and/or business roles (managers, promoters, record labels, etc.) within the Australian music industry.
Applications close at midnight EST on 31 July.
