After Half A Decade Warpaint Are Releasing New Music

Warpaint's new album is titled 'Radiate Like This'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Some six years removed from their last studio album ('Heads Up'), American indie art rockers Warpaint's next record will land in May.

Titled 'Radiate Like This', the LA quartet of Emily Kokal (guitar, vocals), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, vocals), Stella Mozgawa (drums, vocals) and Theresa Wayman (guitar, vocals) have teased the new release dropping lead single 'Champion' today.

"Being a champion to oneself and for others," the band says of the new track.

"We are all in this together, life is too short not to strive for excellence in all that we do."

Together as a group for 20 years, the time since Warpaint last released new music has seen babies, jobs, tours, solo albums, intercontinental and cross-country moves all become priorities.

The first stages of the new album were completed just prior to the pandemic arriving with with co-producer Sam Petts-Davies (Thom Yorke, Frank Ocean).

Although separated by the forces of COVID and relevant shutdowns, Emily, Jenny Lee, Stella and Theresa each managed to record their own parts (often in a makeshift setting) layer by layer.

They then decided to delay the release of the record until they were able to tour it live (they're touring Europe/ UK May-June 2022).

"I was saying the other day that we should've called this album 'Exquisite Corpse', but it was already taken," jokes Emily, referring to the title of the band's 2007 debut EP.

'Radiate Like This' will be released 6 May. Pre-order it.
