As they enter their tenth year, South Australia's biggest independent festival, Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival's 2025 music line-up is bussin', led by a trio of rock & roll music royalty.
Wolfmother, The Chats and Tim Finn will each headline one night across the three-day Adelaide event, which moves to a new date in 2025, the King's Birthday long weekend (6-8 June).ABBF event organisers are also calling on locals to assist the festival, urging punters to 'show up, buy a beer, and support the independently run festival and greater brewing industry'.
After winning Best Major Music Festival at the 2024 South Australian Music Awards, ABBF 2025 has expanded to five sessions over three days and nights, including a brand-new Sunday Legends night of live action before punters can take the public holiday Monday to recover.
"Festivals, beer, hospitality, food and live music are five of the toughest industries to be in during a cost-of-living moment," Co-Director of Beer & BBQ Festival and General Admission Entertainment, Gareth Lewis says.
"I am fully aware that Beer & BBQ Festival is a luxury, but it's one that I think we all deserve. If you've ever been to a Beer & BBQ Fest event, we want to have a beer with you in June, because without your support right now this may well be the last one."
The Friday instalment of music will be led by 'Joker And The Thief' and 'Woman' legends Wolfmother, alongside a couple of Aussie stalwarts, Custard and Rocket Science, plus The Tarantinos (playing all your favourite soundtrack moments) and alt. county punks Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys, plus a stack of local acts led by Cosmo Thundercat.
With such ocker hits as 'Smoko', 'Pub Feed' and '6L GTR', is there a better band than The Chats to headline ABBF's Saturday bill? Definitely not! Bring your boogie shows too, 'cause The Gooch Palms, Dick Move, Mulga Bore Hard Rock, Batpiss and Andy Golledge will make sure you're frothing all-day long.
Once you knock off your hair of the dog, Sunday will quickly brighten thanks to Tim Finn, the Crowded House/ Split Enz alumni not missing Adelaide this time. There'll also be the Adelaide debut of CASH: The American Recordings, a project led by long-time ABBF cohort Henry Wagons and his new band, The Tennessee Studs, playing the songbook of Johnny Cash (from the six albums produced late in his career in collaboration with Rick Rubin).
"We are so proud of this little thought bubble festival to have survived a decade, and we want it to be around for the next decade," Co-Director of Beer & BBQ Festival and General Admission Entertainment, Aaron Sandow states.
"The thousands of small businesses, team, artists, stall holders and brands it has supported and that have supported us over the past ten years is the reason we do it. Supporting independent festivals is imperative to the industries we love surviving and thriving."
Alongside the best independent breweries and low and slow, fire-loving chefs (which will be revealed next month), ABBF also offers punters BMX and skating demos, the mayhem of Riot City Wrestling, masterclass panels with brewers and chefs, eating contests, a tattoo parlour, market stalls, and the infamous Beer Bod Wet T-Shirt Championships.
"The craft beer industry in Australia literally grew up alongside the Beer & BBQ Festival," states ABBF Beer Ambassador, Ryan Davidson (co-founder of Little Bang Brewing). "It's the most important beer festival on the calendar in this country, and renowned worldwide for good reason, Adelaide should be so very proud to own it.
"Whether you're a crazy hazy fan, a sour super-nerd, or a casual lager-quaffer with a passing interest in good times, I want to celebrate this remarkable festival's ten years of beers with you."
