Adam Brand Will Rock Your Socks Off

Adam Brand

Get your boot-scoots on! Local and international country stars are headed to the Broadbeach Country Music Festival for a free, three-day event.

Headlining the festival is 12-time Golden Guitar-winner Adam Brand. Adam will front all-star line-up The Outlaws. “The Outlaws [Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr] have been put together purely 100 per cent as a party band. So we're going to hit the middle of Broadbeach and we're just gonna party and we're gonna rock the place. And that's what we're about, and that's what we're there for. We're not going to go there to serenade you and to have you sit down and get all emotional. We're going to go there to rock your socks off.

“I think when creative people get together, fun things happen. If you watch my Facebook at all over this journey and touring, there's lots of things we do. We'll all be somewhere just egging each other on, you know, not on stage, this will be down the street. We'll say ‘hey, let's just stand up and sing a song'. And so, [we’ll walk] into Maccas and start singing an a capella version of a song.

“So when people get together, especially creative sort of people, you just don't know what's going to happen. And you'll do things you maybe wouldn't do if you were just sitting there on your own. And that creates excitement, it creates fun, it makes it more interesting for us and more interesting for the people.”

Adam says the Broadbeach performance will include very well-known anthems. “They're not new songs that we wrote; they're songs that our parents played us when we were growing up, they're songs that we played in pubs when we were cutting our teeth and first started joining bands and playing music… They're the ultimate playlist for us if we were going on a road trip.”

Adam joins 30 bands at the Broadbeach Country Music Festival including Harmony James, Jasmine Rae, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Hillbilly Goats, Davidson Brothers and the Adam Eckersley Band. Now in its fourth year, the Broadbeach Country Music Festival is a wild ensemble of talent that's free to the public. “When you take a festival like that and you plonk it in the middle of an area you wouldn't associate with it, something different happens, something special happens… It's not the norm, and I think that's why it's really sparking. I think that's why it's gaining momentum because it is different and it's unique.”

Adam has played at various festivals such as The Gympie Muster, Tamworth and Carols in the Domain in Sydney. He says playing at these events are “really beautiful things to be able to do. For me I get a real buzz, and I certainly don't take it for granted the fact that I get to sing for my living. You know? Each night I get to go and stand on stage and sing my songs for people.

“The greatest buzz is I actually get to live this life. It all comes back to the amazing country music fans who are very loyal and very supportive and that's why this festival is such a great thing because it's free. It's like giving back to people who support you. So to be able to play is a real honour.”

Adam Brand And The Outlaws play the Broadbeach Country Music Festival 19 June. They also play the Big Red Bash (Birdsville) 6 July. Adam also headlines Cruisin Country 6, which sets sail from Brisbane 13 November for an eight-day cruise.
