Brisbane's iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel are joining the Mud Army, hosting a special event – People's Day Flood Appeal on 27 March – headlined by country crooner Adam Brand to raise funds to be distributed to Queenslanders impacted by the disaster.
One of Brisbane's grand old ladies first opening in 1889, the flooding that decimated SE QLD in late February resulted in the Breakfast Creek Hotel flooding for only the fourth time in its history (quite remarkable given its proximity to the Brisbane River)."We're part of a local community that's doing it really tough at the moment," Breakfast Creek Hotel Venue Manager Lance Burrows says, "and we want to do our part to help raise as much money as we can to support local flood-affected communities, many of whom face a long and expensive clean up.
"It's an opportunity for us as a business to support the people and organisations who have supported us over many years."
Set to join Adam Brand will be Made In The 80s Show, Dirty Dice, Vegas Rayz and Michael Geeves (who have all kindly donated their time to perform at the event) with 100 per cent of all food, beverage and merchandise sales on the day donated to GIVIT's Queensland Flood Appeal.
"So many Australians have been impacted by the floods and, despite all the disaster," Brand says. "The one shining light is how we all come together to pitch in and help us all recover.
"I really encourage anyone who can to come down and get involved in our flood appeal day."
Breakfast Creek Hotel's People's Day Flood Appeal takes place 27 March (12-6pm).
