Appearing in a New Zealand District Court this afternoon, Phil Rudd of AC/DC has been charged with attempting to procure a murder.

Allegedly trying to have two men killed by a hitman, Phil entered no plea to the charges and will reappear in court in two weeks. Phil has been in custody since 7am when police raided his house. Phil faces up to 10 years in prison and is also charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and threatening to kill.

Rudd moved to New Zealand after he was kicked out of the band in 1983. Re-joining AC/DC in 1994, he has been in and out of the country while touring and recording. Last month AC/DC fuelled rumours of another fall-out with Phil after posting a promotion photo of their new line-up – without their drummer.
