Let loose and reconnect with your '80s roots at the 80s Nightclub Reunion, Spring Fever.
Along with DJ Jen-E and Darren James, DJ Les-Boss will be taking the dancefloor on an unforgettable journey back to '80s club scene. “I really love that I get to recreate that moment in time through music and atmosphere with all the people who used to club some 30-plus years ago. I enjoy the fact that we are reconnecting old friends that we only sometimes see and talk to on social media. There is a sense of energy in the room, you look around and we appear older, but in the eyes and minds of everyone who attends there is the youth and spirit of the '80s bursting out. A time of being young, free and single living with the best music there ever was, even if it is just for one night.”
Les’ first introduction to nightclubs was at a club in Adelaide Street. “I remember going in there and just hating dance music like, I wanted to hear rock, I was about 17 at the time. My friend got me in there with no ID because he knew the guy on the door. It was a massive club, big dancefloor in the middle and a mirror ball hanging from the dome... then all of a sudden the DJ dropped 'You Shook Me All Night Long' by AC/DC and I'm like 'Oh my god I love this club they play rock!'. They really mixed up the music, it wasn't all dance music. I kind of converted from being a rock kid into a disco kid.
“I think that happened to a lot of people growing up my age. Everyone went out and got the new '80s hairdo... coming from a guy's perspective, we lost the jeans and the black t-shirt and started wearing baggy pants, pointed shoes and rolled-up shirts, and really sleek haircuts.”
80s Nightclub Reunion is at the Hamilton Hotel 5 September.
