What went down at a chance underground venue show-meet on a holiday in Tel Aviv, turned into Israel's Elephant Hive touring Australia this month.
Almost instantly, Mojo Burning Festival director Christian Tryhorn fell in love with the progressive-stoner-rock riffage of the band, knowing how well they'd fit into upcoming festival plans and the Australian underground stoner-rock scene.
Formed in 2015 by Rafael Cohen (guitar) and Tom Bollig (drums), Elephant Hive have toured Israel, Russia and greater Europe, taking part in high profile, alternative music festivals in which they are hailed as one of the future bands to watch in the region.
Ahead of the tour, the guys share 5 bad vegan meal experiences they've had while on tour. "We're both vegan and kinda big on healthy eating.
"Tel Aviv is on the top 10 most vegan-friendly cities in the world, so it's pretty easy for us to stay vegan when we're home.
"It's when we travel abroad that things get a little tricky. Here are the top 5 worst vegan tour-meals we had, plus where we had them, starting with the trashiest one."
1. Cold, raw soy loaf in Czech Republic
It was 2am. We drove 11 hours that day, arrived 2 hours late to the venue with no proper meal eaten, started the show instantly, and finally, when it was dinner time, bumped upon this vicious pack of soy loaf.2. Green beans in vinegar in Russia
Really inedible. It was our first morning in Russia and that's all we could find.3. Cheese in Czech Republic
Sorry. When things got real bad we had to. It was 1am, we were starving, and that's all we could get at that bar. Nevertheless, it was the most horrible cheese we've ever had.4. Plain Nesquik cereal in Russia
Pretty good actually.5. Mac French fries EVERYWHERE
Leaves you with a bad feeling, but does the job.Elephant Hive Tour Dates
