Australian singer-songwriter Leanne Tennant returns with new single 'Bring It All Back', which flaunts thick bass-lines, catchy guitar licks and Leanne's signature silky vocals.
Winning the prestigious Carol Lloyd Award in 2018, Leanne headed into the studio to record her third album, produced by Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, The Belligerents, Tia Gostelow). With the financial strain of recording lifted from her shoulders, that meant she was able to experiment and follow sounds she hasn't been able to in the past.
"I had a lot of fun this time around experimenting with different sounds and different producers, which is something I've not had the luxury of doing prior to receiving the Carol Lloyd Award."
'Bring It All Back' is about a conversation between two people with opposing views, and leans into the current social climate. "It's about one person who is willing to challenge their own thoughts and ideas, however failing in epic proportions as they're stuck communicating with someone that has their mind set and refuses to generate alternative perceptions."
Ahead of her performance at next month's Australian Music Week (6-8 November), here Leanne shares 5 tips on how to survive a panic attack. Bless.
1: Tune everything out and start listening for the first sound you can hear. Once you identify that sound, for example a bird singing, try and hear past that sound for one further in the distance.
Continue listening for the furtherest sound you can hear until your mind and heart calm down. What feels like an eternity in your head, is actually only a brief moment. If you can distract your mind from that moment for just a few seconds, it's often enough to get your mind back into a healthy space and continue on as if nothing happened.
The more you succeed at this, the more confident you become the next time an anxiety or panic attack rears its ugly head.
2: Focus on your breath and take five slow inhales and exhales.
3: Think of something you're looking forward to doing later in the day. Again, it takes your mind out of where it's sitting and into another space long enough for your flight or flight response to dissipate.
4: If these things aren't working and you have the option to remove yourself from the situation, then go find a toilet somewhere and hide for a few minutes doing all of the above.
5: Avoid the situation entirely and drink some wine.
