A gothic, shock-rock quartet hailing from the land down under, DARKC3LL have been tagged as a ‘modern day KISS’.
Packing stadium-level hooks and loud, abrasive, industrial grooves, DARKC3LL recently returned from a 20-date tour of the United States. And judging by their Top 5, the lads enjoyed themselves throughly.
1. RV
This is hands down, the finest and best way to travel and see the USA. Especially with five guys. What can possibly go wrong?
2. Walmart
When travelling in an RV, Walmart's the best and only place to park and crash overnight. Also, the 24-hour access to the toilets and sink showers become a small luxury. Walmart itself is like nothing else. In a band, 37 cent burritos, Tostilla's (corn chip scoops; pure gold) and microwave cheese dip, plus very kindly priced beer (18 cans of PBR for $15!) and in some Walmarts, spirits. Let's not forget that urge at 2am to go shop for specials upon specials.
3. Fast Food
For less than $5, you can fill up on a big burger, jalapeno fries and a guzzler of soda, inc. free refills, at most fast food outlets across America. Cheap... and nasty.
4. Food Trucks
If you find one, GO! Especially Spanish/ Mexican food. Like nothing else. This is food porn at its finest.
5. The Bands
We met some of the coolest cats on tour, and learned a great deal about the life of a touring band. Some of these bands had been on the roads for over six months, and their strength, resolve and passion for what they do under all circumstances is both inspiring and illuminating. The guys from Ill Nino took us under their wing (literally) and showed us a lot of love, especially where tequila and whiskey were concerned. Haha! Great guys; amazing band live.
DARKC3LL play MMK Productions final show at the New Globe Theatre 13 November. They'll be joined by The Wrath, Gimpus and Terror Parade.
