Off the back of his recent WA Music (WAM) 'Song Of The Year win, Perth alternative-soul tunesmith and multi-instrumentalist, Morgan Bain has released a new single, 'Why Don’t You Stay'.
The video clip for the single was directed by Steve Browne (Scalphunter, Tired Lion, Timothy Nelson & The Infidels) and tastefully shot at Chris Huzzard studio. “The video is simple but complicated in an emotional way, just like the song and its concept,” Morgan says.
“The song is about anxieties that come with giving your everything to someone and how to not let those anxious thoughts take over and get in the way of how you really feel.”
With a show on the main stage at West Coast Blues’N’Roots last month kickstarting a national tour, Morgan is currently trekking around the mainland coastline.
After his success, we reckon Morgan has a clue or two about writing an awarding-winning song. Here are his tips.
Writing Paper/ iPad
You need paper or something to write on – it could be a typewriter, phone, arm or even serviette!Don't Think
Have an open mind 'musically' – try different orders, tempos, styles, even on different instruments and do whatever feels right.Weapon Of Choice
Instruments that you play on eg. guitar, keyboards, bass or drums; or all of the above if you are a WEAPON!Broken Heart
A breakup!! Ahahaha, or a new love! Personal relationships always make for great songwriting material! Trust me! Dig deep into the feelings you have at that time and pour it out!Something Warm
Lots of tea!! And plenty of food!Morgan Bain Tour Dates
