Fresh off playing Laneway New Zealand and supporting Lily Allen at her Auckland show, New Zealand newcomer BENE is about to make her Australian debut with shows in Melbourne and Sydney this weekend.
But not before she shares 5 things you didn’t know about her.
1: I love glitter
Anyone that comes within a metre radius of me will find a piece of glitter on them, HA! I covered my band members’ faces with glitter at my first ever gig and more recently, had everyone’s arms covered at Laneway.
2: I’ve set-up a live band that plays my songs with me
It’s made up with of a group of my close mates who are all super cool and funky peeps to be around.
3: I love snails
There’s a picture on the Internet of my face covered in them when I was about 12 trying to make it into the world records book.
4: I’m obsessed with the name Steve
My car’s called Steve (she features in the ‘Tough Guy’ video). One of my favourite musicians is called Steve Lacy. I name every object and animal I find interesting Steve. I don’t know why. I just do.
5: My favourite colour is yellow
A fun factaroonie [sic] is that I designed my yellow skirt for Laneway. I also got my mate Tia to draw the graphic for my merch that I designed, and I am super exited about future clothing projects that I’ll work on (new merch could be on the way).
BENE plays The Workers Club (Melbourne) 15 February and The Lansdowne (Sydney) 16 February.
