5 Things To Do When You Feel Like A Loser Shared By Kat Edwards

Kat Edwards current EP is titled 'Best Bad News'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Recently returned from her very first overseas trip (to London, where she was writing new music with Dylan Nash and San Joseph), emerging Australian indie artist Kat Edwards current EP, 'Best Bad News', is also her most honest, raw yet.

Co-written and produced by the aforementioned Nash (Gretta Ray, Angus & Julia Stone, Dean Lewis), 'Best Bad News' features previous singles 'Safety', 'Good Girl', 'Don't Call Me' and 'Loser', as Edwards explores her own growth as a songwriter, and as a human being, the past four years finding a newfound spirit of fun in the process.

"This EP took a while to create, but I'm so happy with all the songs on there. I am really proud of the body of work I have created," shares Kat.

"I've been able to work with some incredible musicians and producers whom I feel lucky to now call my friends.

"All the tracks feel like they fit into the same story, which is really just one, big exploration of self.

"It's a perfect snapshot of my life from the past few years, each song written about something I was actually working through at the time.

"I was going through the highs and lows of a relationship and a break-up. I was dealing with anger, anxiety, depression and growing up and out of things/ people."

Keeping to those themes, here Kat shares (in no particular order) five things you can do next time you're feeling like a loser. Cute!

1: Swimming/ Riding A Bike

Both have you pushing against some sort of resistance – good if you feel angry at yourself/ overthinking everything you've ever said to anyone ever – and distract yourself from your own brain.

2: Reading a book

Because only really cool and beautiful people read. Also, helps with escaping to a different world.

3: Take yourself on a date

My favourite thing to do if I'm feeling sad or anxious is force myself out of the house and to a cafe/ restaurant. It helps me not spiral.

4: Chat to your mum or best friend

A second opinion always puts everything into perspective.

5: Listen to music

Either something that will boost your mood or something that will help you cry out those tears so that you can move on.

Kat Edwards plays Uni Bar (Hobart) 10 December.
