5 Things That Are Great About Touring In The US With Simon Kinny-Lewis

Simon Kinny-Lewis plays a run of Australian shows from December 2018 to January 2019.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Australian blues musician Simon Kinny-Lewis is making his definitive mark as singer, guitarist and bandleader on his new album 'Bad Whiskey'.

The band's own, original brand of contemporary blues and rock has created a loyal fan base of enthusiasts around the globe and led to performance and/ or recording opportunities with highly regarded international musicians such as Chris Cain, Anton Davidyants, Nate Ginsberg and more.

The band’s impressive songwriting, soulful vocals, and world-class musicianship is all brought to the fore on 'Bad Whiskey'.

Here, Simon tells us five great things about touring in the US before his return there next year for more touring in support of 'Bad Whiskey' and his forthcoming album 'A Day In San Jose' due next year.

1. Performing with US Blues Guitarist of the Year Chris Cain...

A current-day blues giant with a voice like BB and a tone like Albert.

2. Sampling the various beers in NorCal...

And coming to a decisive conclusion that drinking Sierra Nevada on tap is the best.

3. Eating ‘wolf turds’

Stuffed, smoked jalapeños wrapped in bacon and watching US blues legend Chris Cain perform at The Smoking Pig BBQ in Fremont. Amazing on both counts.

4. Laying down tracks for the next album at Reed Recordings in San Jose...

With my drummer Tony Boyd and members of the legendary Ford Blues Band.

5. The Californian blues fans are a breed apart, and so friendly...

Their enthusiasm for the blues is incredible, lifting me to new heights performance-wise.
