A veteran of Australia's electronic music scene, Minx has released a string of hits ('Nothing But Love', 'All Because Of You' and 'Hold On') while her resume includes DJing at the Grammy Awards after-party in LA and the Brit Awards in London.
Minx's footprint on home soil is just as strong as she is worldwide, headlining premium nightclubs such as Pacha, Goodbar and Electric Circus as well as being a festival regular including gigs at V Fest, Parklife, Good Vibes and Future Music Festival.Minx's singles have fallen into the hands of many iconic artists as well as over the years, with remixes from Motez, Kormak, Filter Bear, Andy Murphy, Olsen, Sarah Main and Sonny Fodera to name a few.
Minx is one of Arcade Nightclub's resident DJs; the Gold Coast club - from the mind of Future Music Festival's Mark James – celebrates its opening weekend (4-5 December) with an all local DJ line-up featuring Minx alongside Robina, Damo Cox, Taleena, Flash, Kondo, Tara Blook, Andy Finn and Mark James himself, all preparing to let loose as an alternative social club focussed on house music.
Here, Minx lists five things 2020 has taught her.
1. The first few months I beat myself up a little over not feeling creative. Not wanting to do a new mix or get in the studio or even listen to music.
Many were posting things like 'use this time to be creative'; 'use this time to work on music'. That was the last thing I felt like doing. I learnt that's ok! We are all experiencing this slightly differently. It's absolutely fine to take some time out.
2. I learnt to slow down (albeit forced at first). My life pre-COVID was 100 miles an hour. I'm sure most can relate. Taking the time to rest, reflect and appreciate, has been a game changer for me.
3. I've learnt to incorporate a lot more self-care into my life. No dance floors has meant I've needed to get moving WAY more than I'm used to, and it's been the best thing I've done all year. For body and mind equally.
4. We all know it's important, but this year has reiterated just how important friendships are. I've learnt to verbalise this to my loved ones a lot more often.
5. I learnt just how much I love what I do. How much music, DJing, the music industry, the clubs, the dance floors, the people, the memories, my career, my achievements, the feeling I get while performing, the feeling I get while on a dance floor, the feeling I get seeing a crowd of happy faces, really means to me.
Forever grateful and can not wait to do it again on 4 December at Arcade's opening weekend.
Minx is a resident DJ at Arcade, which is located at 13/15 Orchid Ave, Surfers Paradise, and launches 4-5 December weekend.
