5 Sunshine Coast Secrets With Locals Bearfoot

Bearfoot
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Love songs are supposed to be all dramatic and mushy, right? Sunshine Coast roots gurus, Bearfoot have taken a different approach with their new single.

'Crazy For You' is a knees-up, ska-driven track with twists and turns celebrating our roller coaster love lives and sees the band once again under the guidance of Paulie B (Yama-Nui Studio) showcasing one of their catchiest, jumpiest tracks to date, including a special appearance from the Sunshine Coast’s soul sista, Andrea Kirwin.

“This track was written a long time ago, back when I met a girl who changed my world and six years later turns out to be an amazing wife,” vocalist Asher Chapman says about the track.

“It’s a song about the challenges we all face on the road to growing old together.”

Currently touring the east coast of Australia, Bearfoot share 5 Sunshine Coast secrets… Sssshh!! We're listening guys.

1. The Basement

Boutique, local beers in a bar that is pretty much a basement of an old pub in Nambour. It's the closest we get to those tuck-away bars you find in Melbourne, and frankly it's pretty great. Also has hosted some epic underground (pardon the pun) gigs that get nice and sweaty. Top blokes that run it, too.

2. The Shared in Yandina

Next to the vet (well, down the road from the vet anyways). Run by Boogie and his team; they do amazing food and host awesome open mics, smaller gigs and put on roots, rock, reggae Sunday's once a month. We've definitely done a few of these and such a sweet, community vibe.

3. Guru Life

There's awesome coffee to be found on the Sunshine Coast, but man these guys have it nailed. Located on the side of the road in between Nambour and Maroochydore, it's an awesome spot to stop, grab a cup and take it allll in. Plus Johnny Boinkin from The Brains Trust is one of the owners, so you know there's going to be good tunes in the background.

4. Beers with the crew at sunset, at Alex Headland

It's a sweet spot. Great view of the waves but sitting on the edge of the 'cliff', drinking beers with our mates. Could be worse.

5. Shake It Up Music

Absolute legends and can pretty much guarantee the bulk of our music equipment come from these guys. Not a plug. We've genuinely known them for a long time. They support so many local artists (and teach as well) and they know their stuff. Simple.
