Recently announced as Welcome To Australia ambassadors, Thundamentals are designing a special edition ‘Got Love’ band shirt, with 100 percent of proceeds going to The Asylum Seeker Centre.
It’s hoped the sales might, in some small way, contribute to the Not For Profit’s mission: 'to provide a welcoming environment and practical support for community-based asylum seekers, while building community support and pursuing social-justice outcomes for them'.
As MC Jeswon explains in an official statement to Welcome To Australia, it’s a big nod to the: “ideals that myself and my friends are representing in our music: diversity, compassion and a commitment to cultivating meaningful relationships within the community. One Love."
Thundamentals will kickstart a massive national tour this Friday in Wollongong before snaking around the mainland for the next six weeks. With so many tour memories already forged, DJ Morgs looks back at the Thundas career, picking five career highlights.
1. Our first ever show
I think our first ever show was supporting Muph N Plutonic in our hometown, Katoomba. At the time they were heroes to us somewhat and we were literally just starting out. I don’t even think we had a name yet, but for that one show ten years ago we were called 'Connect Four' – can't remember why though!2. Astronomy Class Tour
Our first, national tour was with these homies. It was amazing to have our first tour experience with a bunch of really likeminded and awesome people.3. A Tribe Called Quest at The Hordern
ATCQ has been a favourite for each of us at some point. We all grew up listening to them, and sharing the stage with those guys is something I won't soon forget. Q-Tip had an orange aura around him.4. Groovin' The Moo
Doing this regional tour with so many other great national and international artists was crazy with so many amazing crowds and great people on the tour. Afterwards, the festival threw an artist-only party on an island with jet skis and catamarans (and beer) which is another day we will try to remember.5. The Metro, Sydney
Selling out The Metro in Sydney was a huge goal for us, as growing up it was somewhat of an iconic venue, and personally something I never thought would be possible. Performing to all the love in the room that night remains unparalleled for me at this stage, and marked a huge career highlight for us all.Thundamentals Tour Dates
