"Thank you so much to everyone involved in bringing this one together. Lush, Airlock Studios, Anthropocide, Metropolitan Groove Merchants, Indigo, Austep Music and to all the fans who have rocked out hard to these songs at our shows. This is for you.
"So enter the asylum now and enjoy your stay."
Here, the band share five reasons why music improves mental health.
1: Communication
Davis: "There is a special quote that we stand by regarding music and its relationship with improving mental health, and that is: 'When words fail, music speaks.' Music speaks from a place of truth and vulnerability that comes from the heart, and it has the potential to unite us as human beings."2: Power
Bertolone: "Music is universal, knowing no bounds. Its ability to cross the divide that we create between ourselves and everything around us is sometimes the only thing that we can rely on."No matter what we're going through, we're never truly alone, there are always others experiencing something similar. That's why it is our duty as musicians to tell our stories through song.
"The power of music is undeniable and our story we share could be the one someone is holding on to, their glimmer of hope that guides them through the darkness."
3: Understanding
Davis: "When you listen to new and old music, you begin to discover what you like and dislike about different songs and how they make you feel."As humans, we are reflecting on a subconscious part of ourselves that comes to the forefront of our attention when music triggers an emotional response.
"Music has the ability to bless us with more inner understanding and empathy."
4: Trust
Bertolone: "In this fast-paced world we live in, it is unrealistic to expect that we can have the 'carefree' lifestyle we are shown is so easy on TV and in movies. Joy is as common as the hardships we experience, although our brain only allows us to retain the difficulties we face."At our lowest, we feel a disconnect from our lives, our loved ones, and ourselves. However, we trust that our favourite music will always be there for us.
"After a hard day we can play the soundtrack of our lives, allowing it to conjure feelings of happiness and nostalgia, and give us strength.
"Music is the one, solid form of consistency in our lives and it's for that reason we put our trust in it. When all else feels like it's falling apart, the band will play on, and so will we."
5: Connection
Davis: "Music certainly helps human beings get into the mindset of processing a spectrum of different emotions and ultimately helps us seek comfort."When we play our music, it sparks a conversation in people and I think the power of music can conquer a bad mental health day just through opening up and encouraging people to share their stories."
