Make the most of the beautiful spring weather and head down to Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) Cleveland for a great evening of tapas treats and free live music on the outdoor stage to end your working week.
Internationally renowned guitarist Karin Schaupp will make a welcome return to RPAC for the next instalment in the popular Tapas Friday concert series directing some of Queensland’s finest young guitarists. This ‘Intimate Evening Of Classical Guitar’ promises to provide "a great mix of music that crosses lots of musical boundaries from beautiful Renaissance music, through to fiery Spanish works and Brazilian jazz, plus exciting new works by celebrated Australian composer Phillip Houghton’’ says Karin.
Entertainment on the outdoor stage will be provided by five of Karin’s outstanding students from The University Of Queensland’s guitar department. The group consists of Rosa Trio members Libby Myers, Joe Fallon and Ben Ellerby. The trio play professionally and won a final spot in last year’s Adelaide Guitar Festival and are part of this year’s QPAC’s ‘Lunchtime Live’ series, and have also played recently at the Judith Wright Centre. They will be joined by Karin’s extremely talented undergraduate students Kamilla Scott-McKenzie and Dominic Ward to perform a fabulous night of music.
While Karin’s main focus is still performing, she is teaching more these days and is really enjoying it. “When you perform a concert yourself it’s a real rush and I still love that. But seeing someone fulfilling their dreams is so immensely inspiring and fulfilling” said Karin. She has such a talented crop of students and can’t wait for everyone to hear them perform.

There will be a great selection of music that can be enjoyed by all, not just guitar aficionados. One of the most common comments I get is 'I didn’t know you could do that on a guitar'.
