Last year DEAD toured nationally with Jucifer and Black Cobra, headlined their third US tour and made four new records; scheduled for a staggered release starting in May.
DEAD consistently achieve a power to weight ratio previously thought unobtainable in the world of heavy music.
They've also heard their fair-share of excuses from punters who don't think they should pay the door charge. "We've spent more years combined than we'd care to count in the DIY world and if there is one thing you can always count on it's entitled folk who don't want to pay less than the price of a drink to see four bands.
"It's a great affirmation of your worth in society after a ten-hour drive. [So] come and see us play, we're not as jaded as it sounds."
1. "Oh I just came from Sydney, I didn't know you had to pay." Lucky for us we'd been to Sydney before and knew that just like the rest of the world, shows there have an entry fee.
2. "I'm meeting my friend here, she didn't say there was a charge, do I still have to pay?" Usually delivered in a helpless tone, demanding a significantly higher amount of sympathy than this situation could ever warrant.
3. "What do you mean if you wanna see the band you have to pay? Well can I just go in though?" This one usually comes courtesy of an older bloke who is pretty sure he's the one doing the bands a favour by being there.
4. "My house mate's in one of the bands, I'm kinda just here to support them." Sometimes I feel like people are just trying to confuse you by stating completely illogical things.
5. "Music shouldn't be about making money, man." This is totally real this one. I'm not sure how but it is and not that uncommon. I'm gonna refrain from making comments as to which sub-culture the guilty party usually hails from.
DEAD join THE MoE (Norway) at The Bearded Lady 15 April.
