5 Reasons King Coyote Are Riding The Rock n Roll Highway

King Coyote
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Port Macquarie rockers King Coyote – fresh off their debut single release for 'The Game' in December – are keeping the fire stoked unveiling another song, 'Too High'.

With a sound sitting somewhere between the bluesy-sludge of The Black Keys and the psych-out grooves of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, 'Too High' showcases King Coyote as a young band moving upward at a rapid rate.

"Working on 'Too High' down in Bondi Junction with Rick Will was an eye opener," the band admit.

The band have the taste of the rock & roll lifestyle, judging by the listicle they've supplied (5 reasons the band are riding the rock & roll highway).

1. Upbringing

We all come from upbringings influenced by rock, different as they were… we all draw a line with rock & roll.

2.The Glamour

Though we haven't quite reached it yet, we've heard when people love your tunes, it can get pretty glamorous. We want Rolex's.

3. Sex, drugs, rock & roll

We don't want any of these things; don't know why anyone would. They're terrible.

4. The love and the friendships

Getting to know so many cool people, every show: soundies, bar staff, bookers, agents, the other acts.

So many rad people out there with cool stories and positive attitudes, spending time with everyone before and after the shows is a big deal for us. We love it.

We've made some really cool friends: talented, clever, fun… people are amazing, you never know who your going to meet.

5. Getting starstruck

We've had the opportunity to play with people and meet people that are big deals in our musical direction. One way or another our band has brought us into contact with people we admire and it's a spin-out sometimes.

Through contacts giving us tickets to shows or access passes at festivals, to supporting acts from our childhood like Nick Oliveri from QOTSA, having the Grinspoon guys around who we grew up listening to, supporting Unwritten Law, meeting the guys from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

You have to pinch yourself and thank the higher powers sometimes, but you only get out what you put in; it's a hard slog haha.

'Too High' is available now.
