Independent funk-soul outfit, Odette Mercy & Her Soul Atomics were the winners of Best Urban Act at the recent WAMAwards. While Odette scored the gong for Best Vocalist.

"To those that voted, we thank you," the group stated in a Facebook post.

"What was more unreal than winning was being approached by so many peers that were super supportive and had been cheering us on in the background and voted for us. Your quiet words of encouragement post the awards meant more than you know."

With attention now turned to which mantle the group will house the awards, Odette shares a few WA acts whose hair she admires. "Don't be the douche that touches it. Just stand, admire in wonderment," she declares.
