5 Pop-Punk Bands Forever Ends Here Wish Would Reform

Forever Ends Here
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Sydney pop-punk trio Forever Ends Here embark on a bright new beginning with their latest single, 'Unspoken'.

The shimmering pop-punk tune reminisces on young love and missed opportunity, thinking back on a past relationship that never found the right moment to bloom. Energetic and wistful guitars trace vocals throughout the verses and the upbeat chorus evokes feelings of youthful nostalgia.

"'Unspoken' is about the realisation that you left it too long to open up to someone and missed the window to be together – knowing the other person felt the same, but you both left it unspoken and ended up in different places," vocalist Luke McChesney shares.

"I had to channel my teen self to match the energy of a coming-of-age pop-punk track, and I think this is something we all experienced in some capacity growing up. The secret crush that we'll probably never talk about."

After originally forming in 2011, Forever Ends Here is Luke as well as Mav Burnett (bass) and Kane McChesney (drums). It had been five years since the 'I guess forever really did end here' puns started rolling and Forever Ends Here set off around the country on what was to be their last ever tour together on the aptly named FEHwell Tour.

The trio previously headlined several national tours, performed alongside major acts including Simple Plan, 5 Seconds Of Summer, State Champs, Neck Deep and Short Stack, and released a full-length album before disbanding in 2018.

Luke, Mav and Kane took their time away until they found themselves in space that called for reformation last year with a national tour.

Given their own history, we chatted with Luke about who he'd love to see reform years after they sung their last note.

1: We Are The In Crowd

I know they're doing the odd festival appearance here and there, but I'm talking about a full reunion. These guys were a huge influence for early Forever Ends Here. I need a new WATIC album in my veins.

2: There For Tomorrow

These guys may be a little more niche in the emo scene, but if you knew them you were probably obsessed. Maika from the band has gone on to do some really cool new projects in the pop world, but I'd kill to see them play 'A Little Faster' one more time.

3: Amy Meredith

Give me that Aussie band nostalgia. I want to feel like it's 2010 and my favourite ~scene~ song is on the radio. Short Stack have had multiple comebacks now (and I'm thrilled about it) but I'm gunna need Amy Meredith to follow suit.

4: Red Hearse

I'm a sucker for all things Jack Antonoff, but this Bleachers side-project from 2019 still has me obsessed. They stopped releasing music after their first record and I'm gutted I never got to see them live.

5: One Direction

Does this one even need an explanation? I'm manifesting for the people here.
