5 Places To Swim In Melbourne According To ORCHA

ORCHA lists his favourite places to have a swim in Melbourne.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

With Melbourne Music Week well under way, local artists and curators Carla Zimbler, Zoltan Fesco and Matt Sheers' immersive, sensory experience 'A Nice Warm Bath' is sure to stand out on this year's programme.

This audio-visual event will feature 25 artists coming together to collaborate and explore light, scent, sound and projection.

The final line-up features a swathe of ambient/ experimental sound producers, alongside visual and scent artists: Anatole, Hymns, Jess Sneddon, ju ca, Lee Hannah, Nico Niquo, ORCHA, RBÍ, Sara Retallick, waterhouse, Ying-Li Hooi, Tarquin Manek, Zoltan Fecso, AEGIS AV, Carla Zimbler, Don Gray, Jesse Mullins, John Carolan, Kake Geck, Meagan Streader, Mikaela Stafford, Rachael Archibald, Rhys Newling, Rare Mose and Erin Adams.

One of the acts, ORCHA, sits somewhere adrift between worlds of neo-classical composition and downbeat electronica.

The violinist beatsmith has created a universe of sounds made entirely by violin, nestled together with his luminescent vocal style, rich beats and a moody ambience.

With summer virtually here and swimming adventures a must, ORCHA shares 5 places to swim in Melbourne. Though you'll need to bring your own towel.

1: The Grand Hyatt Spa and Sauna

Located on level 9 in the Grand Hyatt on Collins St, this spa is one of the best in Melbourne. I have spent many days there contemplating my existence and unwinding from a busy weekend of gigs.

2: The Carlton Baths

A beautiful pool that is over 100 years old. Always warm and clean, with live music on Sundays to keep you entertained while you float.

3: Pound Bend Warrandyte

A little stretch of the Yarra River that has a huge tunnel of water connecting to different parts of the river. A great place to swim, sit and reflect or try and spot a platypus.

4: Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs

Not technically in Melbourne (more regional) but a great out of town spa experience, with natural hot spring water (some almost 40 degrees) in wide, open fields under the sky.

5: Walkerville Beach

All the beaches around here are beautiful and secluded, with old runied buildings and amazing landscapes. Many midnight swims have been had there, and some contemplative star gazing as well.

A Nice Warm Bath plays Melbourne Music Week at Norla Dome & Courtyard at Mission To Seafarers 24 November from 5pm.
