5 Old Stuff Things We Like Better Than The New Stuff Shared By Mitch, Please

Mitch, Please are a punk-rock band from Brisbane.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

To mark the 25th anniversary (last November) of their 'UNIT' album, ('Polyester Girl' is 25!), Regurgitator will perform the record in all its pixelated density, along with an extended set of their hits across time at a special mini festival at Eatons Hill Hotel this Saturday.

They'll be joined together in plasma by a plethora of dynamic musical cohorts they've curated: DZ Deathrays, Custard, Models, Butterfingers, Screamfeeder, Resin Dogs and many more (including Mitch, Please) for a full day of live music across two stages with no crossovers.

As the presser says: 'Code for rhymes. Products of time.'

Self-described as 'a bit punk, a bit pop, a bit light and a bit heavy, plus lots of other bits all whipped up', Mitch, Please are a five-piece Brisbane band that do not feature a single Mitch. Rather they're comprised of Bragg, Polly, Kayla, Matt and Steve.

Last December they released their second EP 'Yes, Thanks', the follow-up to their 2020 debut EP 'The Bin Collection'.

Ahead of their appearance playing Regurgitator's '25 Years Of UNIT' mini festival, the band have worked up a top five listicle that's a nod to the Gurge's 'I Like Your Old Stuff Better Than Your New Stuff' from the 'UNIT' album.

1: Leftover pizza for brekkie

Cold pizza the morning after is supreme. You don't fully appreciate the pizza until you've been parted with it overnight. What they say is true; you really don't know what you've got till it's gone, so it's only on the second round that you can appreciate the pizza's true value.

2: The rental market

Everyone knows it's cooked now.

3: Dr Martens

Doc Martens used to not fall apart, looked cool and wouldn't slip on the pub floor. I still have a pair that has lasted over 25 years, a solid investment and long lasting. They even came with a lifetime warranty, which apparently ended in 2018. These days I have to change my new pair every two years or so.

4: Street Press

Environmental concerns aside, I miss the printed street press. It showed an appreciation for the local music scene with a concentrated gig guide, A-Z of local bands, reviews of local shows, and front cover local artists without having to search the internet.

It was a ritual to pick it up and when you saw other people reading it, created a sense of community and conversation.

5: Big Macs

Big Macs used to be bigger when I had tiny child hands.
