Lamb Of God - Still Echoes
Lamb Of God are returning this year with their new album, ‘Sturm Und Drang’, and this was the first peek at it. I love Randy's vocals: raspy, angry and hard out, but still very easy to understand what he is singing about. New album and a label move to Nuclear Blast? Hell yes, Lamb Of God are going to dominate.Nothing More – Jenny
I saw Nothing More at Soundwave this year and I pretty much gave up bothering to see if anyone could top that experience on the day. I haven't seen a band with that much passion, energy and talent in a LONNNNG time. The guys are from Texas, USA, but they seemed to love our natives Dead Letter Circus, Karnivool and Cog (RIP), so hopefully they will be back ASAP.}
Northlane – Rot
The first track from Northlane's new singer, Marcus, this was a massively strong track to return with, when it was at a time the band could have fallen over. Catchy and heavy as hell in equal measure, 'Rot' shows why they are encroaching on the top echelon of heavy music in Australia.Parkway Drive - Vice Grip
Parkway Drive, I believe, can do whatever they want with their new music and it seems they do, and I back that all the way. I am a big, '80s music fan and this sounds like a perfect marriage of '80s Alice Cooper or Iron Maiden stadium track with metalcore vocals. They will have their detractors after dropping this track, but I reckon IRE will be the album that knocks it up ten notches AGAIN for them - and they shouldn't apologise for that.Breaking Orbit - When Isis Starts To Cry
Breaking Orbit are slowly but surely inching their way to the top of the Oz prog-metal heap. This track is from an album that is getting a slew of ridiculously good reviews and radio play in all the right places around the world. It's proggy, it's heavy, it's technical, but it all feels accessible. Seriously wicked stuff.Little Bigsound takes place at the Judith Wright Centre 27 July.
