The 2017 line-up features artists and bands that cover a vast, sonic terrain, from Afrobeats to tropical vibes and into deep, dark jungle, such as singer Alice Terry, reggae-soul combo and festival larrikins King Tide, The Crooked Fiddle Band and world music lover Alphamama, plus The Strides with Afro Moses, San Lazaro, Homage To Fela Kuti and Afrobrasiliana Soundsystem.
As Global Rhythms heads into its fifth year, we check in with Eastside Radio Managing Director Tony Smythe for his Top 5 moments from the festival so far.

3. The afterparty for 2011 was held at the Rose Bay Hotel and Dereb The Ambassador jumped on stage with the Strides for one of the city's first looks at real, live Ethiopian jazz funk.
2. At our new home in Glebe performing in Lola Lovina’s caravan, Emily Wurramara opened up 2016’s event while Uncle Max gave a warm and smokey indigenous welcome to everyone in the crowd.
1. Originally from the Seychelles Islands, Grace Barbe brought the house down last year among a backdrop of rain with an electric performance that had everyone dancing and Joseph Tawadros back stage fretting about having to come on next.
