Melbourne indie rockers Halcyon Drive are about to embark on an east-coast tour of Australia to promote their newest single, 'Silver Ray'.
Recorded and produced by Joel Quartermain (Meg Mac, Dustin Tebbutt), 'Silver Ray' takes cues from the likes of Everything Everything, Glass Animals and The Strokes.
"In the spirit of our new single, 'Silver Ray', we've done a deep-dive (pun intended) into the internet to find our top 5 underwater creatures."
1. Giant Squid (Architeuthis)
Can’t go past the giant squid first up; it’s literally the stuff of legends, but real - 14 metres long and with a 90cm long penis. Well there you go. Occasionally cannibalistic as well apparently.2. Snake Eel (Ophichthidae)
I just like this guy 'cause it looks like a creature that could have been playing clarinet at the Mos Eisley Cantina alongside Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes (yes, that’s an extremely nerdy and long-winded 'Star Wars' reference).3. Coelacanth
The Comeback King. This 'living fossil' was thought to be extinct 66 million years ago, but then some dude randomly fished one out in the '30s off the coast of South Africa.Still just hanging in there as one of the world’s most endangered creatures, we have to tip our hat to that kind of resilience.
4. Dinosaur Shark Thing
Dunno this guy’s real name, but he popped up just last year in another 'living fossil' type find. It has 300 teeth, body of a snake, face like a nightmare. And... it lives in the waters off the Australian Coast. Yay!5. Sea Butterfly (Clio Chaptali)
How beautiful are these guys? It’s not all doom and gloom under the surface after all. Nice one nature. Up top.'Silver Ray' is available now.
