From Cairns, Player One's involvement with DJing and organising events began in early 2000.
This Australia Day long weekend, the progressive DJ will return to Rainbow Serpent for a fun diverse and surprising set.
Here are five Australian producers Player One is feeling at the moment.
1. SunControlSpecies
SCS set a standard for Australian home-grown production to inspire some of the greatest in the industry and continues to inspire today. It would be fair to say he has played a huge role pioneering modern day Australian underground music on a very large and diverse scale.2. TetraMeth & Shadow FX
Tetrameth’s Sunday night closing sets at Maitreya over the last few years have been the most profound dancefloor experiences you could dream of. Adding his brother, Shadow, into the mix just amplifies the depth of the real intelligent, Australian outdoor, bush sound.3. FunkForm
A unique, tropical, progressive-trance sound that has eventuated into some of the nicest tech house to grace a sound system. Maddy has paved his own way, own direction and own sound. He’s another great, inspirational Aussie producer with a bright future.4. Tomple2oon
As we were thinking of a name for an early track Tomple2oon and I collaborated on, a gecko fell from the roof landing on the laptop and hanging out with us for rest of the studio session. Our first track was called 'Gecko'. Fastforward 12 years and the skills, drive and attitude of his original project is expressed with groovy, homegrown north Queensland goodness that is inspiring in its uniqueness.5. One Tasty Morsel
OTM’s first ever set was a killer, rare-heritage DJ set that stirred something inside all who were there. The sound of OTM immediately hit home with me during his track 'Spirit Realms'. We instantly recognised this was the start of a new movement of underground music in Australia, with a serious message. One than cannot be told, only felt.Rainbow Serpent Festival takes place near Lexton, Victoria from 22-25 January.
