5 Genuine 1960s Moves To Set The Dancefloor Ablaze With Catzilla

Catzilla
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Inspired by the B-movies and garage sounds of the '60s, Catzilla's upbeat fuzz-arama was unleashed in 2016 with the self-released vinyl EP 'Going Wild'.

The band's debut album features 14 more 'Zilla killers'; it's an infectious blast of garage rock & roll, perfect for your next go-go party.

Now it’s time to discover your inner gogo. We’ve all seen 'Pulp Fiction' and heard of the twist… but here Catzilla dig deep and unearth five genuine '60s moves to help you set the dancefloor ablaze at their album launch.

1. The Monkey

A '60s gogo classic that never goes out of style. Depending on your build and level of intoxication, this is sometimes known as 'The Gorilla' or 'Drunken Baboon'.

2. The Mashed Potato

James Brown helped popularise this '60s classic, which is fine by us. Stick a bolt through your neck and the same moves become 'The Monster Mash'.

3. The Alligator

Here’s a dance you can get your teeth into. Straight out of the swamps, this dangerous hip-dislocator will have you cork-screwing on the floor. Not recommended for snappy dressers.

4. The Swim

Great for uptempo tunes and liable to get faster if you collide with another dancer  doing 'The Shark'.

5. The Greasy Chicken

An epic hip-grinder from Andre Williams, the man who also brought us the 'Bacon Fat'. This is sleazy, sexy and very greasy indeed. You’ll look delicious doing it!

"But remember all you hipsters and savages… you ain’t gonna cut it if you can’t dance The ZILLA!"

Catzilla launch their debut album at Badlands Bar (Perth) as part of WAMFest 3 November.
