5 Favourite Video Games Of All Time Selected By Miiesha

Miiesha
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Indigenous singer-songwriter, Miiesha has had a massive week.

On Monday, she was part of the first group of artists awarded a financial support package via Levi's® Music Relief Fund in partnership with BIGSOUND. Tomorrow, she'll release her debut album 'Nyaaringu'.

A strong, proud Pitjantjatjara/ Torres Strait Islander woman, Miiesha (pronounced My-ee-sha) seeks to use her R&B/ soul-laced voice and music to bring people together, helping educate and inspire.

'Hold Strong' fits this mantra and is the final taste of this new album. "We had started working with IAMMXO, who produced my whole project 'Nyaaringu', and he sent through a few beats to write to and this one instantly stood out," Miiesha says.

"Having moved away from home, I was starting to see more of how the media portrayed my people and my community and felt I needed to speak on it.

"Parts were recorded everywhere – from lounge rooms in the city, to a caravan on a farm to a studio, as I made little changes along the way. It's a fun chorus to belt out live!"

Here, Miiesha shares her love of gaming with her 5 favourite titles of all time.

1: The Last Of Us

I have always been obsessed with storytelling and I love the story of this game, I get really caught up in it.

2: The Witcher

I love the freedom of this game, and again the story. It's a fantasy game and has great dialogue between the characters.

3: Call Of Duty

For online gaming, COD has to be the best for me. Being away from home doing music, it's a great way to stay connected to my cousins as they're big gamers. They play 'Apex' a lot, but I'm not a fan of it.

4: King Of Hearts

Who doesn't love Disney, Pixar and the animation world!? Everything I grew up with in the one game, so much fun.

5: Blur

'Blur' is an old game, but it has so many memories of me and my cousins stressing each other out. I don't play it anymore, but I'll have to try and get it again. Makes me nostalgic.

Miiesha's debut album 'Nyaaringu' will be released 29 May.
